Professor Ze Wang, an MU Confucius Institute board member and associate professor in the Department of Educational, School and Counseling Psychology, lead a study on the co-teaching model used in the partnership between the Confucius Institute and the Columbia Public Schools. We are happy to share this paper detailing the results of this research on the methods and effectiveness of our co-teaching framework and partnership for Chinese language education.

The 2017/18 year was filled with growth. We added Chinese 1B for middle school with Columbia Public Schools and grew our high school student numbers. We hosted more than 30 events to share Chinese culture with local schools and the community. As part of a regular review by MU administration, we compiled this self-assessment of the work of the MU Confucius Institute since its founding in 2011. Read the report to learn more about our structure, funding, programs and vision for the future.
The Confucius Institute enjoyed a great year in 2016/17. We celebrated our fifth anniversary with two Kaleidoscopic Shanghai performances, along with more than 30 other events reaching over 20,000 participants. We continued our partnership with Columbia Public Schools and added Chinese 1a to our course offerings. Our team of nine great volunteers, two visiting professors and full-time staff grew together and learned from each other. Think of this annual report as our yearbook; we hope you will open it up to learn more about us as we share our memories and milestones from the past year.
