We are pleased to organize celebrations of Chinese holidays for the MU and Columbia communities. We also enjoy presenting cultural artifacts and activities, like paper cutting and ink painting, at several festivals throughout the year.

Family Fun Fest: Around the World

Aug. 15, 2018

Come to Cosmo Park for Family Fun Fest: Around the World. Your family will love the many activities from all different cultures. At our table, we will present Chinese calligraphy, paper cutting, Chinese yo-yos and more.

Moon Festival

Sept. 24, 2018

The Mid-Autumn Festival, also known as the Moon Festival, is a special time for celebration. Families gather to spend time together, watching the full moon and being thankful for the harvest. Bring your family or friends and a picnic blanket for moon gazing and traditional treats on the front lawn of Mizzou North.

Mizzou Homecoming Parade

Oct. 21, 2018

Watch for the Confucius Institute during MU’s annual homecoming parade. We will be in costume, handing out treats from our decorated van and performing dances or kung fu. If we are lucky, we will also have a Chinese lion dance.

Dumpling Festival

The Columbia Friends of China host this festival every year, and the Confucius Institute will be there to help. We hope you can come support the organization, enjoy an authentic Chinese meal and appreciate a selection of artistic entertainment.

Chinese New Year Showcase

Feb. 1, 2019

Experience an ancient Chinese festival through the eyes of local students at 7 p.m. in the Missouri Theatre. The program will feature students from across Columbia sharing a selection of poetry, music, dance and drama in Mandarin and English.

Chinese New Year Dinner at the University Club

Feb. 6, 2019

Join us for a gourmet dinner and performance in celebration of the Chinese New Year. Enjoy live dance and musical performances and an exquisite buffet dinner. Call 573-882-2586 to make reservations.

Lantern Day

Feb. 15, 2019

Lantern Day marks the end of the Spring Festival celebrations. Make your own Chinese lantern, solve riddles and enjoy Chinese snacks during this celebration.

Chinese Youth Film Festival

April 5–6, 2019

Join us for the third annual Chinese Youth Film Festival. We will screen a collection of original Chinese movies selected for youth and young adult audiences. Movies will play with Mandarin audio and English subtitles.
