We are pleased to organize celebrations of Chinese holidays for the MU and Columbia communities. We also enjoy presenting cultural artifacts and activities, like paper cutting and ink painting, at several festivals throughout the year.

Come to Cosmo Park for Family Fun Fest: Around the World. Your family will love the many activities from all different cultures. At our table, we will present Chinese calligraphy, paper cutting, Chinese yo-yos and more.

The Mid-Autumn Festival, also known as the Moon Festival, is a special time for celebration. Families gather to spend time together, watching the full moon and being thankful for the harvest. We will celebrate together with the Columbia Friends of China and the Mid-Missouri Chinese Association. Bring your lawn chairs or blankets and a picnic, if you like. There will be a performance of Chinese dance and music, and we’ll end the festivities by sharing moon cakes under the full moon.

Watch for the Confucius Institute during MU’s annual homecoming parade. You will see us passing out Chinese candy and doing a tai chi umbrella dance. Our parasols were custom made using a fusion of Chinese and Mizzou symbols and traditions.

The Columbia Friends of China host this festival every year, and the Confucius Institute will be there to help. We hope you can come support the organization, enjoy an authentic Chinese meal and appreciate a selection of artistic entertainment.

Experience an ancient Chinese festival through the eyes of local students at 7 p.m. in the Missouri Theatre. The program will feature students from across Columbia sharing a selection of poetry, music, dance and drama in Mandarin and English.

Join us for the third annual Chinese Youth Film Festival. We will screen a collection of original Chinese movies selected for youth and young adult audiences. Movies will play with Mandarin audio and English subtitles.
